KATHMANDU, April 30: The government has made the recommendation to the president to summon the winter session of parliament which is due to commence on May 7.

A cabinet meeting on Thursday decided to make the recommendation to President Ram Baran Yadav to summon the House session at a time when opposition parties have been demanding that parliament session be summoned without further delays. The Interim Constitution has stated the president summons the House session as per the recommendation of the government. It remains unclear as to how Winter's house session will proceed as the government and opposition parties remain divided on key national issues. The relationship between the government and opposition was soured following the brawl in the Constitution Assembly (CA) meeting on January 19th.

Minister of Information and Communication Minendra Rijal stated " taking account of government responsibility to parliament, the government has decided to commence the winter session on May 7th". House sessions have not been convened since the budget session held in November 2014.
