The parliamentarians representing various Madhes-centric political parties obstructed the meeting by chanting slogans.
Despite the repeated calls of the Speaker of the House, Onsari Gharti to the dissenting parliamentarians to be seated, they kept continued chanting the slogans which eventually led to the postponement of today's meeting.
Furthermore, they demanded the earliest amendment to the new national charter, determining constituency on the basis of population and demarcation of federal states among others.
The political parties with differing views on the new constitution are Federal Socialist Forum Nepal, Tarai Madhesh Democratic Party, Tarai Madhesh Sadbhawana Party, Sadbhawana Party, Tharuhat Terai Party, Nepal, Sanghiya Lokatantrik Manch Tharuhat and Nepali Janata Dal.
Speaker Gharti informed the parliamentarians that the next meeting of the Legislature-Parliament is shall take place on November 22 at 11:00 am.
Meanwhile, before the obstruction of the House, the parliamentarians in the meeting demanded earliest resolution of the issues in Tarai, including uplifting unofficial border blockade imposed from India on Nepal.
Nepali Congress (NC) parliamentarian Ram Krishna Yadav urged the government to seek solution to the ongoing agitation in various districts in the southern plains.
Similarly, CPN-UML parliamentarian Bikash Lamsal accused the main opposition Nepali Congress of dillydallying the endorsement of the amendment bill.
Likewise, UCPN (Maoist) Sita Nepali spoke of the need to curb the black marketeering caused after the trade embargo. RSS
