Mandal said that his son sustained severe physical as well as mental traumas, thanks to the thrashing. Although his son has got relief from physical pain after treatment, the fear of getting beaten at school again still haunts him, he added.

"I tried to meet the principle after the incident, but he refused to talk with me," he complained.

The parents of the victim have demanded that the principal and the school administration be brought to book as soon as possible.

The victim´s family has lodged a complaint against the school demanding punishment to the offender and compensation at Youth Empowerment Organization (YEO), a local organization working in the area of child rights, on Saturday.

“Any kind of violence and misbehavior with children is against child rights. So, those involved in such activities should be punished at any cost,” said Kishor Kumar Yadav, president of YEO.

Sanjay Sharma, the principal, has said that he had thrashed Sandeep after he caught him doing mischievous activities in the school.
