Shah will now soon undergo MRI, which will reveal the condition of his body organs, the hospital informed. “His neurological status will be reassessed in detail in a few days´ time,” the statement said, adding, Shah will also need physiotherapy for a prolonged period of time.
Shah was admitted to Srinakarin branch of Samitivej Hospital in Bangkok on February 19, after suffering a major cardiac arrest at the apartment of Bangkok-based businessman Sunil Khadka.
“Soon after he was admitted, he was immediately given cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with multiple DC shocks and took 90 minutes for recovery,” the hospital statement said. “The patient was comatose at that time due to hypoxic injury to the brain and was put on ventilator.”
Following CPR, coronary angiogram was performed which showed total occlusion of mid-left anterior descending artery and successful balloon angioplasty and stenting was performed.
Shah was then shifted to Sukumvit branch of the hospital in comatose state where he was treated with therapeutic hypothermia to prevent further injury to brain and vital organs.
He regained consciousness on March 2 and was taken off the ventilator the next day.
