“Today´s (Thursday) cabinet meeting decided to form a committee headed by Maoist leader Janardan Sharma to resolve the row over property transactions carried out by then people´s government during the insurgency,” said Minister for Physical Planning and Works Hridayash Tripathi, adding, “The committee would have representation from Nepali Congress (NC), CPN-UML and United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF).”
Following protests from the opposition parties in parliament, the government had decided not to implement its decision and to resolve the issue on the basis of consensus.
Tripathi said the government would move ahead as per the committee´s recommendations.
The cabinet meeting also decided to form a committee headed by joint-secretary of General Administration Ministry Tilakram Sharma resolve the problem related to transfer of the government employees. The committee is mandated to submit its report within five days.
Similarly, the government has appointed Govinda Pokhrel as the executive director of Alternative Energy Centre. Also, the cabinet meeting appointed Mahesh Adhikari and Anil Dhungel as members of Nepal Telecom Authority.
