On the first day of the race, Pandit covered a distance of 120 km, took a break at Sindhupalchowk´s Khadichaur on Saturday evening, and completed the rest of the 80 km on Sunday. [break]
Locals of Jiri, a tourist destination of Dolakha, gave a grand farewell to Pandit as he left the scenic town at six in the morning with the aim of spreading awareness about global warming and climate change.
This is the fourth long-distance race of Pandit, a BBA student of Kantipur Valley College. This time Pandit was supported by the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology.
Pandit completed his first long distance race of 127 km from Kathmandu to Tatopani in 2008 in 11 hours 20 minutes. The following year, he ran from Swargadwari to Kathmandu and covered a distance of 339 km in 47 hours 20 minutes under the supervision of the National Sports Council.
He claims to have a record of running non-stop for 17 hours.
