Seoul-based The Forest of Literature has acquired permission to publish the awards-winning novel. The novel is also set to be published by New Delhi-based Random Publishing House for sale in Indian subcontinent except Nepal. Both Seoul and New Delhi editions will hit bookstalls within 2010. [break]
“We had a desire to internationalize Palpasa since the beginning. A formal permission has been given to Random House for sale in South Asian countries except Nepal and Seoul-based The Forest of Literature to translate it into local languages and sale in North Eastern Asian countries,” said Kiran Krishna Shrestha of Nepalaya.
Nepalaya published Wagle´s debut novel some five years ago. The publisher has already brought out English edition of the novel.
“The interest shown toward my first novel in the international community has naturally given me further encouragement,” said Wagle. “This kind of institutional practice is necessary to expand Nepali work.”
The editor of The Forest of Literature Kim Hyun-Jee said he came to know about the novel through a Korean poet and translator Siva Riyu who keeps a good knowledge about Nepal.
The poet had shared editor Jee that he was really impressed by the novel.
