KATHMANDU, Nov 1: Pakistani ambassador to Nepal Mazhar Javed has called for full implementation of the report prepared by the UNOHCHR on the violation of human rights in the disputed Kashmir region.
Addressing a talk program on Jammu and Kashmir dispute and the recent escalation in human rights violation there, Ambassador Javed on Wednesday demanded establishment of an independent commission to investigate into the cases of human rights violation and prosecution of those involved in atrocities being committed in the 'India Occupied Kashmir'.
The envoy said that Pakistan will continue supporting the people of Kashmir for the cause of their human rights and freedom. The talk program was held on the report of the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) unveiled in June. The report presents data of the number of killings, pellet victims, arson and women raped.
Around 250 participants including intellectuals, think tanks, media persons and civil society members were present at the function organized on the embassy premises.
Also, the messages of Pakistan's President Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan were read out on the occasion of Kashmir Black Day that Pakistan marks on October 27.
