“We will start the program with few districts. But eventually, it will be expanded to all PAF districts,” Joshi said, talking to the press at the signing ceremony.
As per the MoU, FNCCI has agreed to support poor community organizations formed under PAF on capacity building and establishing institutional linkages for carrying out livestock and agriculture businesses. It has also expressed commitment to support communities in starting small processing enterprises producing high value products.
Mallik stated that the MoU has paved way for the community organizations to involve in profitable and market-oriented productions and ensured them access to market through provision of technology and information services.
With the strategic alliance, PAF plans to create and strengthen industry-wide partnerships along the chain of producers, traders, processors and other stakeholders, PAF said in a statement.
FNCCI said it will provide access to local community organizations to its agro-pricing information system and market information system network and train poor on developing and implementing business plan, among others.
PAF -- a national institution set up to implement targeted poverty reduction programs - has covered 400,818 poor households as of mid-July 2010, implementing different income generation and community infrastructure development programs in 40 districts.
