The two student unions reached a three-point agreement on Sunday to end clashes.
Campus chief Dr Pashupati Timalsena said the two sides have agreed to form a high-level committee to conduct independent probe into the clashes, avoid clashes in the future and resume classes from Monday.
The agreement was reached at a meeting among ANNISU-R, ANNFSU, Nepali Congress-affiliated Nepal Students’ Union, ANNFSU-Sixth, the campus administration, and Environment Facilitation Committee, which was formed after the clash.
The Campus administration had shut down the campus since Thursday after the clash turned nasty and left over three dozen students injured and motorcycles vandalized. On Sunday, students reached the campus and chanted slogans demanding resumption of classes.
On Saturday, local representatives of the Unified CPN (Maoist) and CPN-UML had held meeting to improve relations between their students unions. Among other things, the meeting had agreed to form a joint task force to resolve the dispute and provide compensation for the damaged motorcycles.
