KATHMANDU, Aug 22: Continuous heavy rains have affected normal life in Kailali district.
Most of the areas in Bhajani, Joshipur, Janaki, Ghodaghodi Kailari, and Gauriganga have been inundated.
According to the District Administration Office, Kailai, over 500 houses have been inundated in Kailali while over 1,700 people have been affected.

Similarly, over 400 houses have been inundated in Bhajani alone.
Some families of Kailari are currently living in the ward office. Lokmaya Chaudhary, 45, from Kailari-5, was swept away by the flood while trying to leave her house. Following her rescue, she is undergoing treatment at Nisarga Hospital in Dhangadhi.
Even now, it is raining in Kailali and the flow of water in small and large rivers is also increasing. The local administration has issued a notice urging the local residents in flood-risk areas to relocate to safer places.
Currently, the rescue efforts are ongoing with the assistance of the local municipality, Nepal police, Armed Police Force (APF) and local bodies.
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has also urged locals to be cautious in low-lying areas and riverine areas.
