Palitha Mahipala, secretary to the health ministry, said 19,000 deaths were also reported last year. Oral cancer is the most common among men, and breast cancer is the leading type among women.
According to Mahipala, breast, oral, lung, and colorectal cancers are the leading causes of cancer-related deaths in Sri Lanka.
