KATHMANDU, April 13: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) recorded 517 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. These new cases include 158 individuals below 30 years of age.

Of the new cases detected on Tuesday, 119 are people between 30 to 39 years old, 110 are between 20 to 29 years and 70 others belong to 40 to 49 years of age, according to the MoHP. Similarly, 67 new cases are detected among people between 50 to 59 years of age and 46 cases among people above 60 years of age. 


What is alarming this time is the COVID-19 cases are detected even among children below 19 years of age. According to MoHP, 43 new cases are detected among children between 10 to 19 years of age and five cases are found among minors below 9 years of age.


The Health Ministry also recorded five more cases of fatality linked to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours of which four of them breathed their last on Tuesday. With this, Nepal’s COVID-19 case tally stands at 280,984 including 3,058 deaths.


Meanwhile, the Health Ministry has projected Nepal’s COVID-19 case tally to surpass 600,000 with the daily surge in the new cases of more than 11,000 by the next three months. The projection was made based on the current trend of COVID-19 infection in the country.
