KATHMANDU, Jan 23: The Kathmandu valley-level steering committee of nine opposition parties Wednesday announced a protest as part of the 20-day agitation to unseat the present government.

Various opposition parties, including the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML, have been launching protests against the incumbent Baburam Bhattarai government since January 19.[break]

According to the information given during the press conference organized by the valley chapter of the movement´s joint steering committee at the Nepali Congress central office in Sanepa, they have planned mass gatherings and protest rallies in all three districts of the Kathmandu Valley.

The opposition parties have planned to take out protest rallies that would later converge into mass gatherings at Taumadi in Bhaktapur and at Jawalakhel in Lalitpur on January 25.

CPN (ML), Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Rastriya Janashakti Party, CPN (Samyukta), Rastriya Janamorcha, Nepal Sadbhavana Party (Anandidevi) and Churebhawar Rastriya Ekta Party have joined the opposition alliance led by NC and CPN-UML.

After the attempts to come up with a consensus prime ministerial candidate failed, the opposition parties earlier this week announced the 20-day agitation to remove the present government.
