KATHMANDU, Jan 15: A meeting of the nine opposition parties including Nepali Congress, CPN UML and Rastriya Prajatantra Party, among others, unveiled a 20-day protest program against the government starting from January 19.
“We will protest against the government by pin-pointing its mistakes,” UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal said after the meeting at CPN-UML party office, Balkhu on Tuesday afternoon. [break]“The protest programs are targeted against the growing corruption, failure to forge consensus and growing anarchism of the government,” Khanal added.
As per the protest program top leaders of the parties are scheduled to address a gathering in Dailekh on January 19 to press the government to take stern action against those involved in journalist Dekendra Thapa’s murder.
Similarly, the opposition parties will also be holding a nationwide-protest against the government on January 25. The parties have also decided to hold a week-long program on memory of martyrs, which coincides with Martyr’s Day on January 29.
