The opposition alliance said its protests include general strike, blockade, boycott of the public functions attended by prime minister and ministers and encircle government offices among other things.
A meeting of the alliance held at Singha Durbar on Sunday decided to resume the protest to press its demand for consensus-based constitution making process, said leaders.
"We waited for consensus and dialogue with the ruling parties by stalling our protests, but it is found that ruling parties are against a consensus-based new constitution in line with the historic agreements," said UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal. "Protest has become both compulsion and necessity to us for now."
The alliance comprising 17 political parties in the CA including Madhes-based parties and other fringe ones has been boycotting CA meetings protesting against the majority-based constitution making process started by the ruling parties.
According to protest programs, the alliance has announced nationwide shutdown for April 2, 7, 8 and 9. Opposition parties have announced blockade, shutdown and plan to cause obstructions at government and offices and tax offices. The agitating parties have also decided to boycott public functions attended by prime minister and other ministers and wave black flag at them.
Protest program will start with the preparation meeting of 30-party alliance in 75 districts on March 19. The alliance has also decided to hold demonstrations in front of all district development offices against price hike, violence against women, load-shedding and corruption on March 22.
"We are not against talks but the ball lies in ruling parties' court," said Dahal during the press meet. "We still hope that the ruling side will become positive for consensus-based constitution making process."
The 30-party alliance led by the UCPN (Maoist) had decided to hold talks with the ruling sides following repeated appeal by Prime Minister Sushil Koirala and other leaders. However, both ruling and opposition parties stood adamant to their previous stance, leading the talks nowhere.
