One killed as truck plunges into Rapti River

KATHMANDU, August 27: A man died and two were injured in a truck accident at Bhimphedi in Makwanpur district on Friday morning.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Jayeshwar Rimal of the District Police Office, Makwanpur, one Bhoj Raj Basnet, 28, of Sindhuli died on the spot when the truck (Province 1-02-001 Kha 8759) carrying iron rods fell into the Rapti River near Sanutar of Bhimphedi Rural Municipality-1 of the Tribhuvan Highway. The truck was headed for Kathmandu.

“The truck driver Rajan Banskota and his assistant Saroj Acharya of Sundarharaicha, Morang were injured in the accident. They are undergoing treatment at Chure Hill Hospital in Hetauda,” said DSP Rimal.
