RUPANDEHI, AUGUST 15: A man has been injured in a gunfire in Omsatiya of Rupandehi. The gun was fired yesterday around 11 PM in Omsatiya Rural Municipality-4 Basantapur near the Bhairahawa-Parasi bypass road.
Bikas Gurung, 31, of Belahiya was injured in the incident. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rabindra Regmi, chief of the District Police Office, Rupandehi, Gurung was shot in the left side of his stomach. Gurung has been receiving treatment in Universal Medical College. Police Inspector Bed Poudel, informed Republica that he is out of danger.
One killed due to gunfire
Gurung works as a helper for tourist’s vehicle in Bhairahawa Customs Office. Gurung told the Police that although his first wife stays in Siddhartha Nagar Municipality, he stays with his second wife in Parasi. In his initial statement Gurung told the Police that like every other day he arrived early in the morning and around 10:30 PM when he was returning to Parasi an unknown person shot him.
Before Gurung was shot, a robbery took place in Hotel Siddhartha Cottage near bypass road. Gurung claims that he was shot as the robbers were running away from the scene. According to the police, the incident is suspicious and they have started an investigation. DSP Regmi said that they are searching for the group involved in the crime. The police also investigated the hotel employees and some locals.
