NAWALPARASI, July 23: The swollen Narayani River has swept away an elderly local while he was fetching logs from the river on Saturday noon.
The missing person has been identified as Bikram Pashi, 50, of Susta-4, Triveni in Nawalparashi district, according to police.
Similarly, the rain-triggered flood in the same river has swept the cemented block spurs of the Gandak embankment in the district.
The Indian side has already initiated the repair of the damaged spur stretching to 15 metres so as to avert further damages in the spur.
The latest water level recorded in Narayani River was 272,000 cusecs.
Around a dozen of villages in southern part of the district such as Narsahi, Paklihawa and Guthi Prasauni are at risk of inundation if the flood in Narayani river continues sweeping away spurs. RSS
