RARA, March 3: A domestic tourist visiting Rara, a major tourist destination in Nepal, died of altitude sickness on Monday morning.
According to Kamal Prasad Pandey, Chief District Officer of Mugu, the deceased has been identified as Bhuwan Bishwakarma, 54, of Dhulikhel Municipality-10, Kavre. He was visiting Rara Lake.

Dr Nakul Shahi of District Hospital Mugu stated that Bishwakarma had arrived at the hospital for a check-up at 9 PM on Sunday after experiencing breathing difficulties. The hospital noted that he was suffering from a lack of oxygen in his body, but he refused to be admitted that night.
The next morning, his friends brought him to the hospital in an ambulance around 6 AM, but he passed away on the way before reaching the hospital, said Dr Shahi.
According to him, Bishwakarma was also a chronic patient of asthma. Doctor Shahi said during the snowfall, in cold weather, and due to the lack of oxygen in the high Himalayan region, he suffered a heart attack and died of a cardiac pulmonary arrest.
A team of 25 people, including the deceased Bishwakarma, had reached the Rara Lake area on Sunday alone.
