KATHMANDU, March 13: A girl died while undergoing treatment while her lover and her sister have turned ill after a group suicide attempt in Parsa on Sunday evening.
According to the District Police Office (DPO), Parsa, 27-year-old Sajita Kumari of Jirabhawani Rural Municipality-4 died during medical treatment in Inaruwa of India while her lover Sanjay Das, 22, of Jirabhawani Rural Municipality-2 and her sister Manjita Kumari, 13, survived the rat poison they consumed together after medical treatment. The duo has been been brought back to Nepal for interrogation.

Spokesperson for the DPO, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ananta Ram Sharma said that the police have found out that Sajita and Sanjay were having a love affair which Sajita's family opposed. “Sanjay has told us that after being rejected by the family, he fled away with the sisters and consumed the rat poison with them at a local school,” Sharma told Republica, “In addition, he also told us that he and Sajita both had bought the rat poison for consumption.”
DSP Sharma added that a police team has been sent to identify the school where the incident took place and look for evidence at the site. He added that the police will continue an interrogation on Wednesday since both survivors of the suicide attempt are very weak at the moment.
After consuming the poison together, Sanjay had taken the sisters to his home where his mother asked him to go to hospital. “After seeing the trio and finding out that they had consumed poison, Sanjay's mother had directed them to go to a hospital,” he said. It was then, that they went to a clinic in Inaruwa of India for medical treatment.
DSP Sharma added that the body of the deceased is currently being brought to Birgunj for a post-mortem.
