UDAYAPUR, Feb 16: A motorcycle accident that occurred in the western market area of Katari Municipality, Udayapur, claimed the life of the rider and left the pillion rider severely injured.
The incident took place early Saturday morning on the Siddhicharan Highway, near Nau Dada in Katari-7, where a motorcycle with registration Province 2-01-0034 P 1304 reportedly lost control and crashed.

The 23-year-old rider, Rabin Tamang, a resident of Katari-7, was pronounced dead at the scene. Tamang was commuting from Mirchaiya, Siraha, to Katari.
Likewise, the pillion rider, 23-year-old Kiran Tamang from Damli, Siraha, was critically injured. He was initially treated at Katari Hospital and later referred to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan for further treatment.
According to officials, initial investigations suggest that the cause of the accident was excessive speed, with low visibility due to early morning darkness. The authorities are awaiting a detailed investigation and post-mortem report to confirm the exact cause of death.
The motorcycle has been placed at the Belso Police Outpost, and the deceased's body has been sent for post-mortem at Katari Hospital. Further investigations are underway.
