One dead, 15 injured after crowded jeep slips backward and veers 60 meters off the road

GULMI, Oct 24: A 15 year child was killed while 15 passengers sustained injuries after an over packed jeep slipped backward after a brake fail and fell around 60 meters off the road. 

The jeep, Lu 1 Ja 7370 was heading to Paluwa from Tamghas when it met in an accident at Ishma rural municipality-2.

The deceased has been identified as Bimal KC of Ishma rural municipality-2. The driver, Prem Kunwar, 29 and another passenger, Karishma Kunwar, 26 are critically injured, according to DSP Roshan Khadka, spokesperson of District Police Office.

The duo have been referred to Lumbini Medical College, Palpa for further treatment from District Hospital. Those injured include :

Roshan KC (13), Bel Kumari Kunwar (67), Rabin Kunwar (14), Kamala KC (52), Kalpana Rana (33), Bishal Thapa (11), Pawitra KC (14), Arjun KC (12), Anushka Panthi (19), Kabita Mukhiya (12), Sushma Mukhiya (8), Bhumkala Panthi (59) and Sishir Kunwar (6).  The injured are undergoing treatment at District Hospital, Tamghas.  

Earlier today, eight-month-old child along with her parents were killed after a jeep, Bhe 1 Ja 865  veered around 200 meters off the road at Hima rural municipality-1, Jumla. Four other passengers are critically injured.   The deceased have been identified as Lale Sarki, 26, Janaki Sarki 25 and their daughter Mahima of Tilaram Rural Municipality, Jumla.
