One arrested with US dollars worth Rs 4 million

The amount totals Rs 4,033,854 as per Friday's exchange rate. The bus, traveling from Damak to Birtamod, was stopped at Kerkha for a security check by the police.

KATHMANDU, Dec 13: A person has been arrested in Jhapa in possession of US dollars worth over Rs 4 million. The arrested individual has been identified as Mohammad Nausad Miya, 25, from Gauradaha Municipality-5, Jhapa, according to Jhapa Police.


During a security check on a passenger bus at Kerkha Chowk, Kamal Rural Municipality-3, along the East-West Highway, 29,700 US dollars in 100-dollar denominations were found hidden in a black bag. Deputy Superintendent of Police Krishna Kumar Chand, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Jhapa, confirmed the arrest.
