KATHMANDU, Sep 27: Former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has objected to the government’s alleged preparations to seize the passports of several high-ranking government officials and political leaders.
Addressing the gathering of the party’s cadres and leaders in Gundu, Bhaktapur on Saturday, Oli sarcastically remarked that the interim government was formed amid the noise and chaos created by protesting youths. He also said that they are not leaving the country by handing over the responsibility to run the country to such a government.

“I’m hearing that the government is spreading all kinds of rumors. They’re talking about seizing passports—what do they think? That we’ll flee abroad after handing over the country to this government?” Chairman Oli said.
In his first address to the party cadres after stepping down as the prime minister on September 9, Oli insisted that it is only the UML that will build the nation and restore it to the constitutional and democratic mainstream. “We are the ones who will rebuild this country. Once again, we will bring the country back to the constitutional and democratic path,” he asserted.
