KATHMANDU, Sept 24: The office-bearers of the Social Welfare Council have resigned en masse.

The office-bearers of the SWC including Vice Chairman Dr Padhma Prasad Khatiwada tendered their resignations during their meeting with Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Friday. All the office bearers of the SWC were appointed by the erstwhile KP Oli-led government.

Those resigning include Lok Nath Subedi (Treasurer) and eight members of the SWC Board, namely Min Bahadur Shahi, Pushpa Kathi, Nanimaya Nepal, Gobinda Bahadur Shahi, Sushil Gyawali, Bramha Dhoj Gurung, Maniram Banjade and Sanjaya Kumar Sah.

The office-bearers tendering their resignations alleged that they were harassed by the Prime Minister's Secretariat. Organizing a press conference on Friday afternoon, they said that they had paved the way for the new government to appoint new office-bearers as they were not allowed to work independently.
