More fatalities due to road accidents
At least 11 people were killed and scores are injured in two separate accidents on Monday. Seven passengers have been killed in the incident that took place in Gulmi Durbar rural municipality-4 in Gulmi  Likewise, four people were killed while six others sustained injuries in a jeep accident in the district.The jeep, Na 1 Ja 3404, en-route to Jayaramghat from Katari Bazaar met with an accident at Thanti Bhanjyang in Katari Municipality-11 along the Siddhicharan Lokmarga.
 

Carbon dioxide levels grew at record pace in 2016: UN
The amount of carbon dioxide in the earth’s atmosphere grew at a record rate in 2016 to a level not seen for millions of years, potentially fuelling a 20-meter rise in sea levels and adding 3 degrees to temperatures. That growth rate was 50 percent faster than the average over the past decade, driving CO2 levels 45 percent above pre-industrial levels and further outside the range of 180-280 ppm seen in recent cycles of ice ages and warmer periods. The last time carbon dioxide levels reached 400 ppm was 3-5 million years ago, in the mid-Pliocene era. Since 1990, the global warming effect of CO2 and other long-lived greenhouse gases has risen by 40 percent. The two other main gases - methane and nitrous oxide - also grew to record concentrations last year, although at a slower rate of increase than carbon dioxide.

Man arrested for defaming woman through Facebook
Police have arrested a man on a charge of defaming a woman by uploading her photos on her fake Facebook accounts he created himself. A complaint lodged by the victim has named Nabin Timilsina, 27, of Bakaiya rural municipality-4 in Makawanpur as involved in her character assassinating by posting her pictures and contact number on her fake Facebook ID, with the status calling for interested to contact with her for pornographic activities. The accused is to be tried under the Public Offence Act, and further investigations are going on.

'The Usual Suspects' actor Spacey declares life as a gay man
Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey said on Sunday he has chosen to live his life as a gay man. Spacey, 58, who won Oscars for “The Usual Suspects” and “American Beauty,” made his remarks in a post on Twitter. Spacey also apologized to fellow actor Anthony Rapp for an incident Rapp said occurred in 1986. Rapp, who went on to star in the Broadway musical “Rent,” was 14 at the time and starting his career on Broadway.
