22 players squad selected for Women’s T20 Qualifiers

Nepal’s women cricket team has selected twenty-two players squad for the upcoming closed camp of Women's T20 Qualifier's Asian Region tournament.  Nepal will take part in the upcoming Women’s World T20 Asia region qualifiers along with teams from host’s Thailand, UAE, Hong Kong & China. The winner of the tournament will qualify for the ICC Women's World T20 Qualifiers in Netherlands in 2018. Nepal women’s team is traveling to Bangladesh for a week-long preparatory camp to play 3 practice games.

NC to evaluate leftist alliance and its impact in its manifesto

 Nepali Congress (NC) is drafting a manifesto to prepare for upcoming parliamentary and provincial assembly elections by incorporating challenges evoked by the Left Alliance. The manifesto is set to include effects of the leftist alliance in country’s democratic stability and potential hurdles during constitution implementation. 

 

Revenue collection in three months surpasses target

The Inland Revenue Department stated that revenue collection in the first three months of the current fiscal year 2017-18 increased by 24 per cent against the same duration last year. Revenue collection till the month of Asoj exceeded Rs. 51.34 billion and reached Rs. 51.63 billion. Of the total collections, income tax generated Rs 20.74 billion, while Value Added Tax and excise duty raised Rs 18.32 billion and 12.81 billion respectively. Tax collected from education and health service sectors stood highest at Rs. 202.2 mil and Rs. 277.9 mil respectively.  

 

Women leaders call for ensuring women's participation in parliament

Women leaders of various political parties have demanded that women's representation in the House of Representatives and State Assemblies elections be ensured in line with the constitution. They have pressed for minimum 50 per cent representation at local level, 40 per cent at provincial level, and 33 per cent in the House of Representatives. Women leaders said that patriarchal mindset of the society was making matters worse to ensure women's participation and threatened for protests if men political leaders took their silence for granted. 

 

Over 2.5 million collected thru Deusi-Bhailo to operate plus two classes in Jumla

In lack of support from District Education Office, Jumla, residents of Topla Tamti of Tatopani Rural Municipality-8, converged to collect more than Rs. 2.5 mil in Deusi Bhailo to operate higher secondary classes at Kalika Secondary School. Residents donated as much as Rs. 113,000 for the noble cause while some offered blankets and livestock. In lack of higher education within their community, children willing to pursue higher education are forced to to leave their homes. At present, 442 students currently study at the school.
