BHAKTAPUR, Dec 11: Nepal Workers Peasants Party (NWPP) candidate for Bhaktapur constituency-1 Prem Suwal has emerged victorious, defeating Nepali Congress candidate Baburaja Joshi. Suwal secured 33, 076 votes while his closest rival Joshi got 17, 818 votes.
Similarly, CPN (Maoist Center) candidate Milan Suwal has become third with 15,347 votes. As many as 71, 916 votes were cast in this constituency in the elections held on December 7. NWPP Chairman Narayanman Bijukchhen has been winning the elections here in this constituency since 2048 BS.
Bijukchhen had won five times - in 2048 BS, 2051, 2056, 2064 and 2070 BS.
NWPP demands declaring Nagarkot as watershed area
Setting a new trend to encourage young generations, Bijukchhen fielded Party Secretary Prem Suwal as a candidate for the House of Representatives elections from Bhaktapur-1 this time.
In Bhaktapur -1 (A), Hari Sharan Lamichhane has been elected from left alliance. Lamichhane secured 12, 789 votes.
His closest rival of Nepali Congress Jivan Khatri got 9, 974 votes while NWPP’s candidate Niraj Labaju became third with 7,019 votes.
Similarly, in Bhaktapur-1 (B), NWPP candidate Surendraraj Gosai has been elected with 23, 886 votes while his closest rival of left alliance-backed CPN-UML Roman Shilakar got 8,068 votes.
In Bhaktapur-1 (B), NC candidate Anil Bhuju became third with 5, 443 votes. NC, that had been winning seats in Bhaktapur-2, has won no seats this time.
There are two parliamentary constituencies and four provincial constituencies in the district.
