At a time when the party is working to finalize the names of candidates for the Constituent Assembly (CA) elections, most village and regional leaders from the party started visiting the houses of the central leaders to press the party leadership to include the names of the candidates of their choice. Jagat Tamang, the regional president of NC in Nuwakot Constituency No 3, informed that they were heading for Kathmandu to press the party to field as more candidate as possible from the ethic communities in both first-past-the-post (FPTP) category and proportional representation category.
The party presidents of 28 village development committees in the district have been meeting the central committee leaders of NC to make sure that their candidate Bahadur Singh Lama gets an election ticket.
The supporters of the ethnic candidates informed that they met Arjun Narsingh KC and Ram Sharam Mahat as both are in the Candidate Selection Committee and asked them to include Lama in the list of final candidates.
"A“ Lama represents a minority community, he should get election ticket from Nuwakot constituency no 3," ”amang said. "I“ the party neglects ethnic-based candidates, the party would face bitter defeat in the whole district," ”amang said adding that they have warned the leaders about the possible consequences the party may face if minority groups are neglected. They also claimed that 70 percent of the population in Nuwakot is Tamang.
