Number of NRNs to die of coronavirus reaches 96

KATHMANDU, May 17: Altogether 96 non-resident Nepalis (NRNs) have died of coronavirus as of Saturday, the Non-resident Nepali Association (NRNA) said on Sunday.

KATHMANDU, May 17: Altogether 96 non-resident Nepalis (NRNs) have died of coronavirus as of Saturday, the Non-resident Nepali Association (NRNA) said on Sunday.


Likewise, a total of 6,781 Nepalis have been infected by the deadly virus worldwide.

According to the figures released by the NRNA, the United Kingdom has witnessed the largest number of deaths of Nepalis due to the novel coronavirus which stands at 63.


Likewise, 15 Nepalis died of COVID-19 in the United States, nine in the United Arab Emirates, two in Saudi Arabia, one each in Ireland, Japan, Turkey, the Netherlands, Bahrain and Sweden, the NRNA stated in a press statement. Of the deceased, 77 are males and 19 are females.


The NRNA, the umbrella organization of the Nepalis across the globe, has said that it has given continuity to distribute relief materials worth Rs 5.5 million to coronavirus-hit Nepali nationals in various countries. At least 38,000 Nepali nationals residing in various countries have received support from the NRNA, it said.
