Though NTB has already spent more than Rs 20 million for the preparation of the year-long tourism promotional campaign, locals said it has not spent even a penny in the region.[break]

“Less than two months remain for the campaign to kick start, and we have not seen any tourist activities in the region,” said Gopal Hamal, immediate past president of Kailali Chamber of Commerce and Industries. “We´ve felt that the organizers of the campaign are neglecting us.”
Hemraj Pant, chief of Kailali Multiple Campus, said people in the region have no idea about the campaign at a time when rest of the country is busy preparing for the campaign.
Locals were furious with NTB for not listing any tourism product in the region in the list of destinations for the campaign.
“NTB listed Ghodaghodi Lake in the list only after our protest,” Pant said.
People in the region expressed their dissatisfaction with Yogendra Sakya, the national coordinator of NTY 2011 campaign, who was arrived in Dhangadhi Wednesday.
Gokarna Prasad Sharma, local coordinator of taskforce for NTY 2011, said the officials of NTY 2011 have not responded to the work plan prepared by them. He also said the NTY officials have not released budget for the region.
Api and Saipal mountains, Ghodaghodi Lake and Shuklaphanta Widlife Reserve are some of the popular attractions in the far-western region.
