KATHMANDU, Aug 11: Election process during the general convention of Nepali Congress (NC)'s student wing Nepal Students Union (NSU) has become uncertain again after disputes resurfaced on Thursday.

Though the closed-door session was expected to begin from Thursday, with NSU general convention committee settling the representatives' dispute Wednesday, it couldn't start later in the day after some student leaders objected to the voters' list.

NSU President Ranjeet Karna has been accused of making changes in the list of representatives, though the list was sent from the districts without any dispute.

NSU Spokesperson U P Lamichhane, however, said that the voters' list will be finalized by
Thursday evening. “We are planning to start voting process to elect new leadership from Saturday after finalizing the voters' list by Thursday,” claimed Lamichhane.

NSU general convention committee had settled the dispute earlier on Wednesday by allowing each of the major three panels to finalize 30 percent representative and 10 percent for another panel.

Four panels close to NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba, senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel, leaders Krishna Sitaula and Khum Bahadur Khadka respectively are contesting for the leadership of NSU. However, Deuba and Paudel panel have not finalized their nominees so far as they have many aspirants for the same post from the same panel.

Nain Singh Mahar and Jitjung Basnet have claimed the post of president from the panel loyal to Deuba. Similarly Paudel is also failing to finalize candidate for president among Manoj Mani Acharya, Nilkantha Rijal, Deepak Bhattarai and Chitiz Bhandari, who are claiming the top post. Kundan Kafe has announced his candidacy from Sitaula panel and Shuvaram Basnet from Khadka panel for the post of president.

The general convention that started on Sunday was expected to conclude on Tuesday.
