POKHARA, Aug 3: At least eight persons were injured when students affiliated with All Nepal National Independent Students´ Union (Revolutionary) and Nepal Students´ Union clashed at Drabya Shah Multiple Campus in Gorkha on Monday.

Among those injured, the condition of NSU regional president Sharan Shrestha and Gorkha district secretary Durga Bahadur Gurung is critical.

ANNISU-R claimed that six of the injured were its cadres and that they are currently being treated at a local hospital.

NSU alleged that ANNISU-R brought in Young Communist League cadres to thrash NSU activists when the two unions were holding dialogue with the campus chief to settle minor disputes.

However, ANNISU-R said that there was no dialogue with the campus chief and that they just retaliated after they were attacked by the NSU cadres.

Police said two NSU cadres were seriously injured and three ANNISU-R cadres received minor injuries in the incident.
