Litterateurs Dr. Govind Raj Bhattarai and Dr. Dhruba Chandra Gautam were honoured at a programme organized at the Nepalese Embassy in Moscow on the occasion of the centenary of the Great Poet Laxmi Prasad Devkota and the tenth anniversary of the Free Nepal Dot Com (FNDC).
According to Nepal representative of FNDC, Dinesh Basnet, the honors comprised of a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 each and a letter of honour.
At the program, International Nepali Literary Society (INLS) Moscow chapter chairman and FNDC Chief Editor Dr. Madhu Krishna Shrestha said the FNDC had already honored poets Bhimdarshan Rokka and Naresh Shakya.
Nepali Ambassador to Russia, Surya Kiran Gurung lauded the role of FNDC in extending literature and culture of Nepal and stressed on translating Nepali works into foreign languages.
Litterateur Krishna Prakash Shrestha said it is a matter of glory to honour the litterateurs with the award established in the name of the first Russian litterateur visiting Nepal 134 years ago Ivan Minayev and the first Nepali litterateur visiting Russia Jaya Prithvi Bahadur Singh.
Jaya Prithvi was the first NRN, he said, adding he had come to Russia for a visit by discarding the position of King of Bajhang.
Minayev had gone to Nepal for study of Buddhism.
Speaking on the occasion were NRN International Coordination Council Member and INLS Moscow chapter Advisor Jiwa Lamichhane expressed happiness over the honour carried out after fifty years of honoring Devkota in Tashkent of the then USSR.
