NPC won men´s and women´s singles final and won all table tennis gold medals in the Sixth National Games except men´s doubles.[break]
Deep Shaun of NPC came from two sets down to win the final match against Purushottam Bajracharya of Armed Police Force (APF). Shaun pulled 8-11, 8-11, 11-13, 11-8, 11-9, 11-6, 11-5 victory in the final. Shiva Sundar Gothe of APF and Ajay Suwal of NPC claimed bronze medals.
In the women´s singles, Nabita Shrestha edged past Renuka Khatri 11-8, 13-11, 11-9, 12-14, 16-14 in the all-NPC final. Rabina Maharjan of APF and Alina Maharjan of NPC claimed bronze medals in the event.
Men´s Volleyball
Armed Police Force won the title of men´s volleyball in the Sixth National Games on Saturday.
APF made a comeback from a set down to win the final match. APF defeated NPC 24-26, 25-20, 25-21, 22-25, 15-13.
In the third place play off, Western Region edged past PLA 27-25, 25-17, 25-20.
Dipendra Bhatta of APF was adjudged the most-valuable-player of the tournament.
Meanwhile, volleyball assistant coach Jagdish Bhatt -- a former national team member -- was felicitated on the occasion for his contribution to the development of volleyball in Kanchanpur and Far Western Region.
Bodybuilding
Central Region clean swept all six gold medals of bodybuilding in the Sixth National Games in Mahendranagar. The World Bodybuilding Championship bronze medalist Shyam Shrestha clinched 65kg gold, while South Asian Championship bronze medalist Gyan Narayan Maharjan took 70kg gold.
In the 55kg weight category, Suresh Rajbanshi clinched the gold while Devendra Bajracharya bagged 60kg gold. Pujan Maharjan won 75kg category while Kiran Shrestha won above 75kg top prize. Altogether, 30 bodybuilders participated in the bodybuilding events.
Women´s Football
APF set up a final clash with PLA Sports Club in the women´s football of the Sixth National Games. The final match will be played before the closing ceremony on Sunday in Mahendranagar.
In the first semifinal match, defending champion APF thrashed Central Region 4-0 with twin goals coming from Anu Lama. Sajana Rana and Pramila Rai also scored one each for the winners.
Meanwhile, PLA came from behind to pull a 2-1 victory over Nepal Police Club (NPC) in the second semi-final.
It was NPC who took the lead in the match as Niru Thapa scored in the 42nd minute but Rupa Magar leveled the score. Rupa Malla sealed the match for PLA in the 89th minute.
Wushu
South Asian Games gold medalists Aang Babu Lama and Binita Maharjan claimed gold medals in the sixth National Games in wushu for Central Region.
In the thaolu events held at the covered hall of Mahendranagar, Lama accumulated 17.45 points in taichi to win the event ahead of Hari Prasad Gole (17) of Central and Dhruva Raj Neupane (14.10) of Western Region. Maharjan, scored 15.80 points to edge past Erica Lama of PLA, who earned 13.05 points and Ganga Thapa (12.40) of Far-west.

In the men´s chang quan event, Nirajan Ale Magar of PLA Sports Club won the title ahead of Bikash Gurung of Western. Nirajan earned 8.95 points, while Bikash scored 8.90 points. Third-placed Bikash Rai of Eastern accumulated 8.70 points. Sushmita Tamang of Central took the women´s section gold of the event with 8.50 points. Sami Lama, who had won the jian shu/qiang shu gold, was restricted to silver.
Seven gold medals were decided in the sanshau events. In the men´s 48kg, Ashok Rai claimed gold defeating Santosh Kumar Nepali. Kamalesh Tharu of Western and Gyan Bahadur Pakhrin of PLA took bronze medals. Raj Kumar Rai of PLA won the men´s 52kg final with a victory over 10th SA Games gold medalists Raj Kumar Rasaili of Central Region. Birendra Singh Kotari of Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) Club and Saroj Pun of Mid-west were the losing finalists.
Jugu Ram Chaudhary of APF hammered Yubaraj Gurung of PLA in the men´s 56k final. Naresh Chaduahry of Far-west and Pradeep Shiwakoti of Eastern Region got bronze. Manga Prasad Tharu of APF kissed the men´s 60kg gold, while Prem Chand Darlami of PLA got silver. Others to win gold were Som Bir Tamang (65kg) of Central and Tej Bahadur Palli (75kg) of APF.
