Pawan Pradhan, CEO of Cellcom, says customers can use the service, named CellPay, through SMS, mobile application and the company´s homepage to top-up the balance of their pre-paid phone and pay bills of NT´s post-paid, PSTN and ADSL services free of cost.[break]
The CellPay services will go live on Monday.
“To enjoy the service, customers need to have account in Cellcom´s partner banks. Customers, who do not have bank account, can take the help of our agents,” Pradhan said.
Cellcom has so far partnered with Citizens Bank, Century Bank and Kumari Bank.
“We are entering into a tie up with 7-8 banks, including the three state-owned banks, within two to three weeks,” Pramod Dhungana, vice president-business and market operations of Cellcom, said.
Cellcom has already appointed distributors in 10 zones. It has three distributors in the Kathmandu Valley.
The company plans to start bill payment service for other telecom firms, Internet service providers and insurance companies in the near future.
“We are a mobile commerce service provider and our main aim is to ease financial services through mobile phones,” Rajendra Bahadur Singh, chairman of the Cellcom, said, adding that the company provides direct linkage with service providers round the clock free of cost.
The service has been developed in technical collaboration with Solutions Infosystems.
“Customers do not have to worry about security as the system uses encrypted code for each channel,” the company said in a statement.
