Chari had earlier surrendered on September, 2009 at the Office of Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Ranipokhari owing to immense pressure that overwhelmed his ´continuous political back-up´.
Among the self-anointed dons, all of whom are deemed to have political protection, Chari was considered to be close to the CPN(UML).
