KATHMANDU, July 25: In 1998, Bollywood star Salman Khan found himself involved in a controversial blackbuck hunting case. Little did he know that this would be the start of a long-standing feud with notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who began orchestrating threats and attacks against Khan and his family.
Recently, Salman Khan revealed to the Anti-Extortion Cell of the Mumbai Crime Branch that Lawrence Bishnoi was behind a shooting outside his residence, where he and his family were threatened with their lives. The statement depicts the terrifying experiences endured by Salman Khan and his family due to persistent threats from Lawrence Bishnoi and his gang over the years.

The Mumbai Crime Branch disclosed that the firing outside Khan’s Bandra residence was a deliberate attempt to intimidate him. Further investigations unveiled the gang’s objective: to send menacing messages to Khan and instill fear in him.
The deep-seated animosity that Lawrence Bishnoi has against the Bollywood star is traced back to the 1998 blackbuck hunting case. His community reveres the blackbuck as a sacred animal and was deeply offended by Khan's actions. During a 2018 court hearing, Bishnoi explicitly expressed his desire to kill Khan to avenge the Blackbuck case.
In response to these ongoing threats, Salman Khan has been granted ‘Y’ plus security and has recently purchased a bulletproof car to ensure the safety of himself and his family. Mumbai Police has filed cases against 17 individuals in connection with this case, and Lawrence Bishnoi is currently imprisoned in Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati Jail.
As the threats persist, Salman Khan’s life remains under high security, with law enforcement agencies exerting relentless efforts to protect the Bollywood star. The Blackbuck case has now become a significant factor in the actor's ongoing struggle to ensure the safety of his family and maintain peace.
