Norbu Sherpa wins Qatar Airways golf

KATHMANDU, Dec 3: Norbu Sherpa won Qatar Airways Open Golf Tournament here at Gokarna Golf Club on Saturday. Sherpa emerged victorious on the count back as he was tied with Joseph Nathan with 36 stableford points.



Both of them played 16 points on the front nine and 20 points on the back nine. [break]



The tie was broken on the best score of last six holes. Sherpa scored 13 points whereas Joseph had only 12. Sherpa received an open destination ticket from Qatar Airways.



Puspa Rai, who led the first day with 33 stableford points was declared ladies´ winner and Kesang Lama finished ladies runner-up with the score of 30 stableford points. Tashi Tshiring bagged best gross and most birdies award with the score of 31 gross points and 3 birdies respectively.



Rabindra Raj Pandey was the best senior Golfer above 60 years with the score of 32 stableford points. Sonam Wangdi bagged best junior golfer award with 25 stableford points in nine holes. Damien Dunn won the longest drive award and Binayak Basnet won the closest to the pin.



Country Manager of Qatar Airways Ramdas Shivram, President of Gokarna Golf Club Suhrid Ghimire and Sales Manager of Qatar Airways Suneer PC gave away the prizes to the winners.
