KATHMANDU, April 27: : Shangri-La Hotel, Kathmandu, has said that it has immortalized the legendary Tenzing Norgay Sherpa in its suite room. Issuing a statement, the hotel said that the ceremony was inaugurated by its Chairman Shyam Bahadur Panday, and Norbu Tenzing Sherpa, son of Tenzing Norgay Sherpa, on Thursday.

Tenzing Norgay, along with Sir Edmund Hillary, ascended the Mount Everest for the first time on May 29, 1953. According to the statement, the hotel has also dedicated another suite room to Sir Edmund Hillary which will be officially inaugurated upon the arrival of Sir Hillary's children -- Peter Hillary and Sarah Hillary. "The suites have been upgraded with the luxurious yet traditional interiors, where guests are treated to amenities of the highest standard. They can admire the portraits and novels of Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary from their expedition days and bask in the legends' glorious years,” the hotel added in the statement.
