NOC sells four million-plus LPG cylinders in a month amid supply crunch

Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) sold more than four million cylinders filled with liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) last month citing an abrupt surge in demand for the kitchen essential.

KATHMANDU, Aug. 19: Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) sold more than four million LPG cylinders last month amid a sharp increase in demand for cooking gas.



According to the NOC, it issued purchase delivery orders for the import of 57,316 tons of LPG between mid-July and mid-August, equivalent to 4,036,364 cylinders.

NOC records show that 3,136,937 LPG cylinders were imported and sold in the previous month. This means sales increased by around 900,000 cylinders between mid-July and mid-August.


Consumers have been facing an acute shortage of cooking gas for more than a month, prompting the NOC to significantly increase LPG imports to meet the surge in demand.
