CHITWAN, July 9: The under-maintenance section of Narayanghat-Mugling road is set to be closed at night from Sunday, July 7.
The local administration of the district took the decision in all-party meeting on Thursday as per the direction of the Development Committee under Legislature-Parliament to avoid the increasing death tally due to landslides and debris during night.
Vehicular movement along Jaya Prithvi Highway resumes
According to the Chief District Officer of Chitwan, Narayan Prasad Bhatta, the vehicles from Kathmandu and Pokhara traveling towards Chitwan should pass Mugling by 5 pm in the evening. The vehicles travelling through Narayanghat should pass Dasdhunga by 6 pm. The road will re-open in Mugling at 5 am and in Dasdhunga at 4 am in the morning for the vehicular movement for respective directions. In case of emergency, the vehicles will be allowed as per their need stated by CDO.
Chairperson of the committee, Rabindra Adhikari along with other members of parliament visited the site on June 27 before passing the 12 points direction including the potential risk to travel the hazardous road at night. The landslide on June 23 which took the life of 3 policemen prompted the officials to visit the site and take immediate actions.
