ITAHARI, Jan 17: Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Rakam Chemjong Sunday said the government will not hold talks with any non-political armed groups and rather deal with them as per the law of the land.

Speaking at a two-day workshop organized for the coordinators, women members and office secretaries of district peace committees in Dharan, he said the armed groups have disturbed peace from Morang to Parsa. He said only 12-15 such groups are political in nature and the rest are criminal groups, which will be punished by the government.

Saying that cantoned Maoist combatants have been coming out of cantonments with arms, he urged the Maoists to fully abide by the comprehensive peace agreement.

He also expressed hopes that the peace committees across the country will help build peace in the country.
