KATHMANDU, Nov 20: The second round of talks between Tribhuvan University (TU) officials and student unions over tuition fee hike on Friday failed to make headway.

“We will sit for next round of talks only after thorough consultations, without which we could not find out a bottomline,” Bhimraj Adhikari, TU registrar, said.

Meanwhile, TU on Friday issued a statement urging student unions to not launch protests though their 72-hour ultimatum has expired.

“We have taken it positively,” Pradip Poudel, the president of Nepal Students´ Union, said. Thirteen student unions are against the TU decision to increase fees by 10 times.
