BIRATNAGAR, Oct 17: Home Minister Madhav Prasad Ghimire on Thursday warned that he would not let polls violators go scot-free.

He said that the integrated security plan jointly prepared by Home Ministry and Defense Ministry is all set to keep close tabs on the polls disruptors to discourage such activities. [break]

Speaking at a regional security meeting held in Biratnagar today, Minister Ghimire said elections are the platform where people can posit their dissenting views but to disrupt the electoral process is absolutely wrong. “The elections are not only for home minister and the government, it is for all the Nepali people. Thus a handful of poll-opposing groups will not affect the forth-coming Constituent Assembly elections,” Ghimire said.

The elections will be held in a free and fair manner, Ghimire said, adding, "The government does not harbor ill-will to go at any party, however, it will not remain as a mute spectator if the polls are disrupted."

A regional security meeting was organized to discuss the integrated security plan on elections for all the eastern 16 districts.

The joint security meeting participated by the representatives of Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and, National Investigation Department and Nepal Army will prepare a security strategy on elections for the eastern region.
