No politics in education: PM

BIRATNAGAR, Sept 14: Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that universities in the country have become breeding grounds for politics. He said he is troubled to see students being involved in politics instead of education.



“The work of students is to study not to engage in politics,” Nepal said addressing the fourth convocation ceremony of Purvanchal University in Biratnagar.



Stating that the students are still under the influence of past politics, Nepal said, “Education reforms politics. But in Nepal, politics is dominant in education.”







Also speaking on the occasion, Minister for Education Ramchandra Kushwaha said that the government is committed to addressing all problems of the education sector in order to produce efficient manpower for the country´s development.



PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Ramavatar Yadav announced the university´s plan to introduce climate change courses from the next academic year.
