KATHMANDU, Oct 20: Central member of the Nepali Congress NP Saud has said no political party has ever discussed with Nepali Congress on impeachment of Chief Commissioner of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Lokman Singh Karki.

At an interaction organized by the Reporters' Club in the capital city on Thursday, leader Saud said the central committee meeting of the party being held on Thursday would make public official views on it.

On the occasion, CPN-UML Secretary Pradip Kumar Gyawali said the political parties had to register the impeachment motion against CIAA Chief Karki as he was challenging the law egregiously and acting in a very biased manner.

He further argued that Karki's appointment itself was inappropriate, so the UML was showing concern on it from the very beginning. "CPN-UML has full support for the impeachment of Karki," he added.

Similarly, leader of the CPN (Maoist Center) and proposer of the impeachment, Mahendra Bahadur Sahi, said every step Karki took is against the interest of the state. "Karki protected corruption rather than controlled it; he took action to those who spoke against him; showed sheer irresponsibility and acted against the norms of his position. So, impeachment was initiated against him," he underscored.

Moreover, leader of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party Dilnath Giri said the CIAA should be strong for country's interest rather than for an individual's.

However, Co-Chairman of Sadbhavana Party Laxman Lal Karna said the political leaders should focus on implementation of the constitution rather than thinking of impeachment. RSS
