POKHARA, Sept 22: Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has indicated that his party may register a no-confidence motion against the government. He said that if a resolution motion against the president was not introduced in parliament or if the constitution was not amended to define the jurisdiction of the president, a no-confidence motion could be yet another option to end the current political deadlock.

Speaking at a function in Pokhara, Dahal claimed that the Madhes-based parties were making preparations to pull out of the government and back the Maoists. According to Dahal, the talks among the major political parties could not make headway owing to inflexible stance of the Nepali Congress (NC). He, however, did not rule out the possibility of ending the deadlock. Dahal also warned of a third mass movement if the deadlock did not end after Dashain.

Dahal later headed for Palpa.
