On behalf of Nepal Mauritius Business Council, the Correspondent Secretariat Sabrin Raj Gautam made a presentation on  “Tapping Business for Bilateral Growth”. Gautam highlighted the prospects of business development between the two countries.

Focusing on the tourism sector the presentation showcased the potential Nepal holds in attracting Mauritian tourists through religious and adventure tourism such as mountain expedition and, white water rafting. “Nepal, having such religious significance in the Hindu culture, can definitely be a hub for Mauritian religious travelers and would provide the Hindu followers a different experience through jatras and festivals that are celebrated here, “ he said.

Ambassador Hanoomanjee highlighted the current status of bilateral trade between Nepal and Mauritius. She mentioned the numbers are significantly too low and can be increased through handicraft, carpets and pashmina trade. She also welcomed the fact that Mauritian Hindu followers would love to visit the Pashupatinath and such other significant pilgrims and this holds a huge prospect in developing tourism-based industry in Nepal.

The NMBC has been providing a platform to Nepalese and Mauritian business houses to collaborate and has been conducting research and studies in order to further expand business ties between two nations.
